Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a federal block grant program that provides funds to states to assist families in need. States use TANF dollars for a variety of services and supports including income assistance; child care; education; job training; and transportation. Although immigrants comprise a significant percent of U.S. low-wage workers and need assistance to achieve economic security for themselves and their families, they are delayed or completely prevented by current law from receiving critical support and services. Efforts continue to restore access to these benefits for immigrants.
