GORBACH V. RENO:  INJUNCTION OF INS ADMINISTRATIVE DENATURALIZATION PROCEDURES BECOMES FINAL
Immigrants' Rights Update, Vol. 14, No. 7, Nov. 28, 2000

The nationwide injunction on administrative denaturalization regulations promulgated by the Immigration and Naturalization Service has become final with the government's decision not to seek review of the Ninth Circuit's decision upholding the injunction.  The Ninth Circuit held that the INS has no statutory authority to revoke naturalization and that the power to denaturalize rests solely with the federal courts (see "9th Circuit Upholds Challenge to INS Administrative Denaturalization Procedure," Immigrants' Rights Update, Aug. 31, 2000, p. 9).

Gorbach v. Reno, 219 F.3d 1087 (9th Cir. 2000) (en banc).
